Xabi Alonso is also on the radar of Liverpool
According to sources, Bayern Munich have begun discussions with Xabi Alonso on the potential of the Bayer Leverkusen manager taking Thomas Tuchel’s place at the end of the season.
With his Bayer Leverkusen team still undefeated and chasing the Bundesliga title, Alonso is expected to be in high demand at the end of the season from both Liverpool and Bayern. After it was revealed that Tuchel would leave in the summer, Bayern began looking for a new head coach. Talks with Alonso are reportedly still going on, according to Sky Germany.
Bayern have made clear that Alonso is the team’s top choice to succeed Tuchel, who has watched his team drop 10 points behind Alonso’s Leverkusen in the rankings.Leverkusen, who thrived under Alonso’s tutelage, appear ready to break Munich’s 12-year grasp on the German top division and win their first Bundesliga title.
After leaving Real Madrid, Alonso played brilliantly for Bayern in the past. The 42-year-old has sent out “positive signals” indicating that he would be eager to join the team in the summer.
But because of a set provision in his contract at Leverkusen, his departure is predicted to cost Germany’s highest-profile club between £13 million and £21 million.

Alonso’s current contract with the league leaders expires in the summer of 2026. Liverpool, who are also keeping an eye on Alonso as a possible replacement for legendary Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, is devastated by the news.
Since Liverpool shocked the world in January by announcing that Klopp would be leaving the team at the end of the current campaign, Alonso has been connected to the impending opening.
As a great player for Anfield in the Champions League in 2005, Alonso has always had a special bond with the club’s supporters.
In the past, Klopp praised Alonso, saying, “Xabi is doing an incredible job.” Klopp will be leaving the team at the end of the current campaign.
