Brazil will face England and Spain in March friendlies
Brazil on Friday picked up Lucas Paqueta, a midfielder for West Ham, for the first time since an inquiry into questionable betting started in August. This month’s games against England and Spain will feature eight new players in the 26-man roster, as announced by new Brazil coach Dorival Júnior.
Brazil will play Spain at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium a few days afterwards, and England at Wembley Stadium on March 23.The breakdown of Paquetá’s offseason move to Manchester City was due to the claims of betting against him. He has kept playing for West Ham and has not been punished by the English Football Association.
The request from numerous Brazil supporters to include Girona winger Savinho on the national squad for the first time has been heard by JJúnior. For the upcoming campaign, the 19-year-old winger is anticipated to ink a contract with Man City. His former teammates from Flamengo and Sao Paulo are among the seven other new faces.
Júnior has more work in front of him. Brazil’s performance has been dismal since the World Cup in Qatar in 2022. The two-time defending champion Brazil’s lack of qualification for the Olympics in Paris made matters worse.
