Manchester City will not have an easy time replacing one of the best midfielders in football history

As evidenced by his contribution to the team, Kevin De Bruyne has to be regarded as one of the best midfielders of all time. Because he is slowly becoming more injury-prone, it will be hard to find a replacement for him at Manchester City. Besides creating chances for the team, he also scores some crucial goals. In addition to his 28 assists, Kevin De Bruyne scored 10 crucial goals last season to lead the team to a treble.

With his four assists against Luton United, the Belgian has proven that he can make a difference for the team time and again. In Manchester City, many names have been mentioned as potential successors to him, including Florian Wirtz, who is closest to his style of play. Here are five players who would be best suited to replace Kevin De Bruyne.

5. Lucas Paqueta

He was one of West Ham’s most impressive players last season as he led the team to win the Conference League. He looked a real threat throughout the entire season and was one of the standout players. Manchester City has courted him for many years, including having a €101 million bid turned down by the Hammers. He has experience playing in the Premier League, so he’ll be one to watch for when the Belgian Maestro steps down.

4. Dani Olmo

It has been a red-hot season for the Spanish International, scoring many important goals for RB Leipzig. After scoring a hat trick against Bayern Munich to win the Super Cup to open the season, he has made 15 appearances for the club, scoring six goals and assisting another four. Manchester City would be an excellent choice to sign him because he has a creative edge and a knack for scoring goals.

3. Gavi

Despite just being 19 years old, he has already made 111 appearances for Barcelona, showing the importance he has to the team. Gavi has burst onto the scene as one of Europe’s greatest young talents. Besides his excellent dribbling skills, he also possesses an all-round game since he performs defensive duties. With time, he will only improve and can fit into any of the best teams. He is currently ruled out for the season with a cruciate ligament injury, causing Barcelona to struggle.

2. Florian Wirtz

The Bayer Leverkusen team have been blown away by Florian Wirtz since his debut. He has been scouted by many top clubs that are impressed with his development. Even though he is just 19, he has developed beyond his years. With Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the table under the impactful performance of Florian Wirtz, who is known for his creativity.

So far, they have been undefeated and Florian Wirtz has been a major factor in that success. At the same time that he scored eight goals and had 17 assists this season, he has been labelled as a top player in Europe for this season. His huge potential that has not been untapped will make him a good long-term replacement for Kevin De Bruyne.

1. Jamal Musiala

A generational talent, Jamal Musiala has already been touted by many as one of the world’s best players in the past two seasons. Manchester City could rely on his versatility to adapt to many situations in the attacking third because he can play many different positions.

Since he is already one of the most important men in the team, he has proven himself to be not afraid to announce himself on the big stage. Bayern will need to make a compelling case for them to let go of him since he is fundamental to their plans. Having already won the Golden Boy, he will aim to finish the season in the best possible way to stand a chance of winning some silverware for the team.
