It’s been 395 days, since Rodri, star midfielder for Manchester City, last experienced a loss in the blue shirt. Following Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Manchester United at Etihad Stadium, the 27-year-old has become the Premier League player with 60 victories in all competitions, both past and present.
The streak extends beyond that of ex-Chelsea player Ricardo Carvalho (58 games). Rodri’s last defeat while wearing a City uniform occurred against Tottenham in February 2023, albeit that match did feature City’s Community Shield defeat to Arsenal on penalties.
During that period, Rodri was a member of the Spanish side that won the Nations League, and City won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup.In 2019, the defensive midfielder was acquired from Atletico Madrid for a reported £62.5 million, with the expectation that he would one day replace former captain Fernandinho.

Similar to his predecessor, Rodri plays a supporting role at City while players like Kevin de Bruyne and Erling Haaland grab most of the attention. However, players, commentators, his manager, and the numbers all agree that his contribution to City’s recent successes cannot be emphasised.
The midfielder for Manchester City has achieved a remarkable record that tops all previous players in the league’s storied past: an unbeaten run spanning an astounding 60 games across all competitions. Rodri’s incredible run demonstrates his tenacity, fortitude, and indisputable influence on the pitch.
Since establishing himself in English football, Rodri has developed into a key member of Manchester City’s midfield and has been essential to the team’s success. Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are having an incredible run of play, and Man City’s next matchup comes against them. It remains to be seen if Rodri can continue his winning streak or if it is broken.
