Carlo Ancelotti has been found guilty of £900,000 tax fraud

Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Real Madrid, is the most recent person to be targeted by Spanish authorities for tax fraud; the public prosecutor is requesting nearly five years in jail. Since Ancelotti’s first stint at Los Blancos, he has been the subject of an inquiry.

OKDiario has reported that the prosecution has asked for a four-year and nine-month prison sentence. The data comes from the Public Ministry.

The accusations centre on tax cheating; according to the allegations, Ancelotti established a convoluted network of building societies in 2013 and 2014 to evade properly taxing image rights during that time. It is said that the Italian’simulated’ giving up its image rights to other businesses to conceal the money.

Ancelotti is merely the most recent target in a string of names that also includes Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Shakira, Neymar Junior, and Xabi Alonso. Of course, it is unlikely that Ancelotti managed his finances. While most of these cases resulted in a settlement with the police, Alonso successfully defended his innocence through litigation.

For first-time offenders who commit financial crimes, the sentence may be served as a sentence with a suspension if the judge reduces it to less than two years.

Top soccer players who failed to pay their fair share have been targeted by Spain, however, none have been imprisoned as of yet.

2019 saw former Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho enter a guilty plea to tax fraud, which resulted in a one-year suspended term. Prominent athletes such as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have been convicted of tax fraud in Spain.Ronaldo was sentenced to two years of deferred prison, which he was not required to serve, and agreed to pay a fine of around 19 million euros (then $21.6 million) in 2019.
