Argentina’s changes in the lineup

Lionel Scaloni has opted to go with a 4-4-2 setup against England in the FIFA World Cup 2026 semifinal. The Argentina national football team have been working with a 4-1-3-2 lineup in the tournament so far, but for a high-intensity game against the Three Lions their have been some tactical changes in the formation.

Rodrigo De Paul is all set to start on the bench for La Albiceleste. He has started every game for his nation in the World Cup this year, but due to his underwhelming performance against Switzerland in the quarterfinals, De Paul will not start.

Instead, Atletico Madrid’s Giuliano Simeone will start on the right flank for the Argentina national football team. He is going to have an important role to play in the buildup for the defending champions. Djed Spence of England is going to challenge him hard on the right flank.

Argentina’s attack will be headed by Julian Alvarez with Lionel Messi working as a second striker. Enzo Fernandez and Giuliano Simeone will be on the flanks. Alexis Mac Allister and Leandro Paredes will have an important role in controlling the midfield.

Nicolas Tagliafico, Lisandro Martinez, Cristian Romero and Nahuel Molina will be forming a strong backline under Lionel Scaloni. Emi Martinez is the first-choice goalkeeper.
