The biggest personal awards in football will be handed out tonight.
The Ballon d’Or 2026 ceremony will mark a historic occasion for football’s premier individual award. The 70th edition of the award, organised by France Football in partnership with UEFA, will take place at the London Palladium Theatre in London on Monday, October 26.
The Ballon d’Or has been the biggest personal award in football since its inception in 1956, but this year will mark the first time the ceremony will be held outside Paris. Tonight’s ceremony, held in London, will pay tribute to Sir Stanley Matthews, the inaugural Ballon d’Or winner.
This year’s ceremony will feature 13 distinct awards across men’s and women’s football, including awards for the best young players, the best goalkeepers, the top goalscorers and the best coaches.
However, the prime focus will be on the “overall best player” award, which will be handed out separately to the best-performing male and female player this season.
For the 2026 men’s awards, the awards committee will consider performances between August 3, 2025, and July 19, 2026, the date of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final. The women’s awards will be presented based on performances between August 3, 2025, and August 16, 2026, the date of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final.
The men’s jury will consist of one journalist from each of the top 100 countries in the FIFA men’s world rankings. The women’s jury will consist of one journalist from each of the top 50 countries.

Indian viewers will have to stay up late to catch this year’s awards ceremony, with the two main awards scheduled for the early hours of Tuesday, October 27. Spanish journalist Víctor Navarro revealed the timing of the two individual awards.
