Barcelona will host Egyptian side Al Ahly SC at the Camp Nou for the Joan Gamper Trophy 2026 fixture on Wednesday, August 19. This match will serve as the traditional curtain-raiser for the Blaugrana, who will begin their LaLiga campaign on the weekend against Elche.
The Catalan side are coming off a title-winning season under Hansi Flick. They have won three of their five pre-season friendlies, including a 5-2 victory over FC Basel in their last outing. The Blaugrana further strengthened their squad.
This time with the marquee signing of Rodri from Manchester City. However, the Spanish midfielder will not play any part in tonight’s match.
Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, two hugely exciting summer signings, are expected to make their Blaugrana debuts tonight. Paired with new club captain Raphinha, the hosts will be the heavy favourites to lift this pre-season trophy.
Al Ahly, meanwhile, have had a limited pre-season campaign so far, losing their only friendly match against CE Europa. Following tonight’s match, the African giants will begin their Egyptian Premier League 2026-27 campaign against Eastern Enppi SC on Sunday.
