Bayern Munich strongly eyeing Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz
The 19-year-old midfielder has been with Bayer Leverkusen since 2010.
Having served the side for over a decade, it is clear that the dangerous wing pair of Robben and Ribéry have almost reached the twilight of their careers and need replacing. Niko Kovac’s side needs a proper transitioning from the old guard to a new, young and fresh core and it is with that interest in mind that Bayern executives have been very active recently looking for proper talents to replace their stalwarts with.
The names of Kai Havertz and Julian Brandt have cropped up many times in this regard and Bayern used the international break to seriously up their interests in one of those names- Kai Havertz.
The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder-winger hybrid has emerged as one of Germany’s brightest prospects in recent years and has shot to fame with confidence and resolution in his game, showing a certain maturity and swagger. This has seen him attracting the interests of the big clubs all over Europe but Bayern has emerged as the forerunner to sign up the German international in their ranks.
It was reported that the Bundesliga champions approached the player’s agents recently for a proposed move that will see them bringing Havertz to the Allianz Arena in the summer of 2020. Sport Bild reporter Christian Falk suggests that Bayern Munich are clear in their plan over the acquisition of Kai. The 19-year-old has a contract that runs until 2022 at Leverkusen and to avoid conflict with sporting director Rudi Voller who is strongly opposed to the idea of letting Kai leave, Bayern have chalked out a plan to sign him in the summer of 2020 as opposed to this year.

They are hopeful that they can reach an agreement with the player and his agents and to keep Leverkusen happy, Bayern are looking at a sum of 75 million euros. The idea still persists that Bayer Leverkusen will not let a homegrown player destined to become a star leave for anything less than 100 million. The shareholders of Bayer 04 also agree on this and it is clear that the club from Leverkusen and their sporting director Rudi Voller hold the cards right now.
The Bavarians are also committed to the signing of Lucas Hernandez from Atlético de Madrid in the summer and try once again to get Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea. The Bavarians are also interested in LOSC Lille forward Nicolas Pepe and the names of Luka Jovic and Timo Werner are also being thrown around.

Bayern will also have to pay the 35 million for Benjamin Pavard by the end of this year and if they choose to retain James Rodriguez permanently, they will have to cough up 42 million euros in the summer.
