German clubs have a history of nurturing future superstars

The German league has always produced some tremendous talents. In recent years, young footballers have preferred the Bundesliga over other leagues. The top-flight in Germany provides a great opportunity for emerging players to grow. This results in Bundesliga clubs having some of the youngest squads in world football.

Teams like Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig have unearthed the next top talent on several occasions. Their brilliant scouting network plays an important role here. Players like Jadon Sancho, Timo Werner and Erling Haaland are prime examples of this. The Bundesliga is known for giving young players a platform to express themselves and reach their full potential.

So, let’s have a look at the top five youngest squads in the Bundesliga this season.

5. Arminia Bielefeld

The club from Bielefeld are one of the smallest in Germany. They are playing only their second-ever season in the Bundesliga. But, Arminia have managed to produce some brilliant performances and results. This is down to a young core.

The Blues have one of the youngest squads in the Bundesliga. They have an average squad age of 25.4 years. Arminia Bielefeld are battling relegation as expected. The onus will be on youngsters such as Florian Kruger, Patrick Wimmer to keep them safe.

4. SpVgg Greuther Furth

The Bavaria-based club have a huge history in German football. They won three top-flight titles prior to the Bundesliga era. But, in recent years, they've played largely in the second division. But, Furth were promoted to the first tier this season. This is their second-ever campaign in the Bundesliga.

Furth are one of the fringe clubs in the Bundesliga. But, they have shown tremendous faith in youngsters. The Bavarians have an average squad age of 25.3 years. They are fighting to avoid relegation and have put their faith in youngsters like Robin Kehr, Max Christiansen and Timothy Tilman.

3. RB Leipzig

The club was formed in May 2009, but have been one of the consistent performers in the Bundesliga. This is their sixth consecutive season in the top flight. Once again, RB Leipzig have one of the youngest squads.

Great scouting has played an important role in Leipzig’s success. Despite a huge financial backing, they have put emphasis on developing youngsters. This season RB Leipzig have an average squad age of 24.6 years.

The Saxony-based club are again among the top performers this season. They are in contention for Champions League qualification. Their stars like Dani Olmo, Dominik Szoboszlai and Tyler Adams have been in sensational form.

2. Bayer Leverkusen

Leverkusen have a huge history in German football. Much of their success is built on showing faith in emerging talent. They have an average squad age of 24.2 years, one of the youngest in the league.

Bayer Leverkusen have produced some of the greatest talents in world football. Toni Kroos, Kai Havertz, Berd Leno all played for them as youngsters. This season is no different. Players like Florian Writz, Moussa Diaby and Paulinho have burst onto the world scene.

The Leverkusen-based club are involved in a tight race for Champions League places and will hope that they can achieve the objective.

The Reds are one of the most successful clubs in Germany. They have a long history of producing some of the country’s top talents. Mario Gomez, Timo Werner, Joshua Kimmich came through their youth system.

A lot of youngsters have broken through this season as well. Konstantinos Mavropanos, Borna Sosa and Omar Marmoush are having sensational individual campaigns.

Stuttgart have an average squad age of 23.7 years. The club are battling relegation this season, but have kept faith in the younger generation.
