Cavelossim and FC Bardez Goa draw blanks in GPL

Santa Cruz club Cavelossim and FC Bardez Goa played out a goalless draw in the Goa Professional League match played at the Rosary Church Ground, Navelim earlier today.
As FC Bardez head coach Armando Colaco wasn’t available Climax Lawrence was acting coach and he made a few changes as Alesh Sawant was on the bench with Savious Gama filling his place. Kirtikesh Gadekar filled in for the suspended Latesh Mandreak.
Both the teams started the game on a good note but it was the Panthers who made the first move in the 4th minute as Saviour Gama tried a shot from the left flank but it was saved by keeper Agnelo Gomes. SCC Cavelossim could have broken the deadlock in the 10th minute as Aaren D’Silva got the ball and struck a powerful shot which hit the post, Mathew Colaco got the rebound, but failed to hit the net with the goal open. Some intricate footwork by the Badez players in the 32nd minute saw Koko back heal the ball to Peter who passed it on the run to Saviour Gama on the left flank, he wasted no time in firing a shot, only to see keeper Agnelo Gomes save it.
Sviour Gama was in action again in the 43rd minute as he intercepted a pass on the halfway line and dribbled past defenders till the Cavelossim box and passed it to Koko, who in turn passed it to an unmarked Girish Naik but he gave the ball away. Both teams went into the breather goalless.
FC Bardez were awarded a penalty on the 50th minute of the match as Koko Sakibo was brought down by Cavelossim captain Cresson Antao. Peter Carvalho stepped up to take it and shot it on the right side. Agnelo Gomes read it well and saved it. At the other end FC Bardez could have conceded a goal on the counter-attack as striker Aaren D’Silva’s shot on goal but missed by hairline’s distance. FC Bardez had a shot on goal in the 90th minute as Peter got a cross from Girish Naik, He volleyed the ball which hit the post, but was flagged offside. At the other end Cavelossim could have scored in the dying moments of the game as Gammy Costa got the ball and tried a shot on goal which went a whisker wide.
FC Bardez assistant coach Climax Lawrence said, "We played good. We have done everything right, but we aren’t getting the goals.”
