The Blues thrashed the Cherries at home.

Chelsea faced Bournemouth in a Matchday 6 fixture of the Premier League 2026-27 at Stamford Bridge, London, on Saturday, October 10, 2026. Two quick goals inside the opening three minutes powered the home side to a comfortable 5-1 win.

Jordan Henderson needed just 64 seconds to put the Blues ahead, converting from a fine pass from Cole Palmer. The Blues struck again straight from the restart. After a good save from Djordje Petrovic to deny Pedro Neto, the ball fell to Morgan Rogers, whose curling shot went into the top corner after a deflection from Antonio Silva.

The home side scored their third goal one minute after the start of the second half. Neto did extremely well to ride the challenge from Silva before pulling the ball back for Joao Pedro. The latter found the near corner with a composed finish.

Just five minutes later, Bournemouth got a lifeline. A corner from Marcus Tavernier was headed on by Ryan Christie. Moises Caicedo tried to clear the danger, but the ball crashed against the body of Evanilson to find the back of the net.

Pedro restored the three-goal cushion in the 67th minute, converting from a perfect cross from the left by Pep Chavarria. Henderson added a fifth goal in the 70th minute after being teed up perfectly by Palmer.

Biggest lessons from Chelsea vs Bournemouth:

Catch Every Update, Anytime, Anywhere

1. Goals rain at Stamford Bridge

Three minutes in the first half. Five minutes in the second half. That is all it took for two goals to be scored, showcasing the blistering attacking tactics employed by both Xabi Alonso and Marco Rose.

The Blues are the second-highest-scoring team in the league at the moment, so it was no surprise that the match had goals in it. However, the blink-and-you-miss-it way the goals were scored provided a lot of fun for the neutrals.

2. Blues can’t buy a clean sheet

The last time that Chelsea played an entire football match and did not concede a goal was back on January 17. The Blues extended their league run without a clean sheet to 23 matches – a record since 1961. They have also conceded a league-high 13 goals so far. Despite all the money he spent over the summer, Alonso is unable to buy a clean sheet at the moment.

3. Antonio Silva’s nightmare outing

When Antonio Silva joined Bournemouth, it seemed like a big coup for Rose’s side. After all, the Portuguese centre-back was linked with top six clubs for what felt like an eternity. He has, admittedly, been solid so far, but he had back-to-back howlers in today’s match.

First, he needlessly got a touch with his head to send Rogers’ curling effort into the top corner and past the reach of Petrovic. In the second half, he put in a reckless challenge on Neto that the Portuguese easily dodged before getting a free run at the Bouremouth goal.

4. Chelsea look far from confident

Despite holding a healthy lead throughout the match and the visiting attackers not playing particularly brilliantly, the Blues never looked confident of having this result in the bag.

Their leaky defence, marshalled by a 20-year-old Josh Acheampong, looked nervy throughout the game. A mishit from Caicedo led to the Cherries pulling one goal back, keeping the excitement in the match alive.

5. Cherries’ winless run continues

Despite putting in a rather improved performance away from home, Bournemouth were condemned to a heavy defeat. The Cherries remain marooned in the relegation zone, sitting in 18th place with just three points. Worryingly for the fans, the club have now gone winless in their first five Premier League games for the first time in their history.
