Chelsea vs Juventus Preview – prediction, team news, lineups | Pre-Season Friendly

The Blues won 4-0 when these two sides last met in the UEFA Champions League in 2021.

Kai Tak Sports Park in Kowloon City, Hong Kong, gears up to host a club-friendly fixture. Former UCL winners Chelsea and Italian powerhouse Juventus take on each other in what is set to be a thrilling contest.

The Blues had a challenging season (2025-26) domestically after winning the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. They saw a series of managerial changes after Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior parted ways. Xabi Alonso, former Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen coach, made a move to Stamford Bridge recently and will be keen to return those golden days.

They are coming off a 2-1 defeat to ten-man Tottenham after Sandro Tonali and Richarlison found the back of the net. Neither team has drawn any of their last three fixtures. The Blues have also failed terribly to keep a clean sheet in the last seven games.

Italian powerhouse Juventus have played three friendlies so far and are unbeaten with two wins and a draw. They are coming after wins over Standard Liege and OGC Nice. They finished sixth last season in Serie A and had to make peace with a UEFA Europa League berth, where they will be one of the favourites.

Former Italy national team gaffer Spalletti is set to continue as the head coach for next season. They roped in Randal Kolo Muani from PSG yesterday and Kerim Alajbegovic from Bayer Leverkusen. Some crucial names like Openda and Vasilije Adzic are set to be out on loan next season.

The 2025-26 Chelsea Player of the Season was surprisingly left out of the Brazil national team squad by Carlo Ancelotti for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The Brazilian striker was in sublime form, making 33 goal contributions in nearly 50 games for the Blues.

His explosive acceleration and fluid dribbling skills make him a valuable asset for Xabi Alonso. Moreover, his positional versatility is exceptional. The former Brighton and Watford striker is capable of operating as a central striker or a secondary striker too.

Manuel Locatelli (Juventus)

Born alongside Lake Como in northern Italy’s Lombardy region, Locatelli began his footballing journey with AC Milan before making a move to Sassuolo. But a loan move to Juventus changed everything for Locatelli. He went on to become one of the most reliable midfielders in Serie A.

He was part of the Italy team that won the Euro 2021. He recently signed a long-term contract with Juventus, committing his future to the Bianconeri until June 2030. He excels at reading opponent transitions early and is the heartbeat of Juve’s midfield.
