Haaland is one of the many City players with uncertain futures.

Having been found guilty of 114 of the 115 charges of financial misconduct by the Premier League, Manchester City are looking at severe possible sanctions. Anything from a points deduction to relegation or even expulsion is on the table against the 10-time league champions.

Although the club has expectedly launched a rather hopeful appeal against the guilty verdict, the chances of them coming out of this fiasco without being handed any serious punishment look grim.

Under such conditions, some of the biggest stars at the club have been tipped for an exit from the Etihad Stadium, none more so than Erling Haaland. The Norwegian forward is one of the, if not the, best forwards in world football at the moment, and he is unlikely to stick around if City are relegated to the EFL Championship.

Interest in Haaland has come from fellow Premier League rivals as well as clubs from Spain and Germany, among others. Let’s analyse the top five clubs he can join if he leaves Manchester City.

5. Paris Saint-Germain

Back-to-back UEFA Champions League winners, PSG, are well-stocked up front, having signed Ferran Torres at the start of the season. They also boast the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Desire Doue.

However, none of them are out-and-out strikers like Haaland, and the Norwegian will certainly add something different to PSG’s front line. The Parisian giants will also have no trouble meeting City’s asking price.

4. Arsenal

Arsenal have enjoyed a meteoric rise under Mikel Arteta, having won the Premier League last season and currently sitting at the top of the table. However, one pain point for the Gunners has been the lack of a proper No. 9, with Viktor Gyokeres flattering to deceive since signing for the club from Sporting CP.

Arteta has used Kai Havertz as a false nine so far, but adding Haaland will allow the team to challenge for continental titles.

3. Barcelona

According to TEAMtalk, Haaland favours a move to LaLiga over joining Arsenal. Barcelona were burned by an ill-fated pursuit of Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez. As a result, the Blaugrana began the season without a proper No. 9, instead playing Raphinha in that role.

Whether the Catalan club can afford Haaland’s salary demands remains to be seen, but the Norwegian forward would surely be a welcome addition at Camp Nou.

2. Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich are reportedly among the favourites to sign Haaland, according to Bild. The Norwegian was close to signing for the Bundesliga giants when he left Borussia Dortmund, and reports indicate that Die Roten are determined to complete the transfer in 2027.

This move will be a massive signing for Bayern, especially considering that Harry Kane has less than 12 months remaining on his contract.

1. Real Madrid

According to media reports, Real Madrid are the frontrunners in the race to sign Haaland, with Football Insider reporting that Los Blancos have already made contact with the player’s representatives about a possible move. The biggest barrier to any transfer is not financial, but the tactical problem of having both Haaland and Kylian Mbappe in the same team, considering that both play as a No. 9.
