Nicolas Jackson looks increasingly likely to leave Chelsea in the ongoing summer transfer window. The Senegalese striker spent the last season on loan at Bayern Munich, but the German club did not make the move permanent. Now back in London, he has dropped down the pecking order with the Blues and looks set for an exit in search of regular football.

Despite being their third-choice striker at the moment, Chelsea have reportedly sent a £65 million valuation on Jackson, more than double the £32 million that they paid to Villarreal to sign the player in 2023. Moreover, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that the Blues will only entertain permanent transfer offers for the wantaway striker, not loans.

This has made any possible move tricky, with few clubs able or willing to match the Blues’ demands for Jackson. The striker has largely failed to hit the heights expected of him when he moved to the Premier League. He has scored 24 league goals in 65 matches in England. Last season, he scored 11 goals across all competitions for Bayern.

3. Trabzonspor

Trabzonspor have already made waves in the transfer market, having signed Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah on a free transfer. The Turkish Super Lig club are also interested in securing Jackson’s services if the player ends up leaving.

However, any possible deal has been complicated by Chelsea’s refusal to entertain loan deals, while it is unclear if the player himself is open to a move to Turkey.

2. Atletico Madrid

Romano revealed that Atletico Madrid are “keen” on securing Jackson’s services. TEAMtalk reported that Chelsea have already rejected a loan offer from the Colchoneros, but the Spanish side are reportedly unable to meet the Blues’ demands due to their financial situation.

The report, however, claimed that the LaLiga side remain interested in Nicolas Jackson, with Fichajes revealing that Diego Simeone has increased discussions with the Blues regarding the striker.

1. Aston Villa

Aston Villa’s need for a Premier League-proven striker was laid bare during the 4-0 loss to Brighton in their opening match. Ollie Watkins looks destined for a transfer to Saudi Arabia, while Brian Madjo is too young to be relied on week in, week out. Jackson has emerged as the primary target for Unai Emery, with the club and player agreeing on personal terms.

Ben Jacobs reported that Villa are the frontrunners for Jackson, but the biggest problem is that any cash deal would be treated as a “swap” deal under UEFA’s 45-day rule. Chelsea have reportedly explored selling him to sister club Strasbourg, who can loan the player to Villa. The Telegraph claimed that the London club are expecting a bid from Villa in the coming days, so this is a move that looks likely to be completed.
