Cristiano Ronaldo is keen on winning the FIFA World Cup in the 2026 edition.

One of the greatest players in football history, Cristiano Ronaldo, is among the few to have played in six FIFA World Cup campaigns. However, he has always struggled to replicate the success he achieved in club football at the World Cup.

Ronaldo’s attacking prowess is second to none, but at the global level, he has had limited success with Portugal. He made his World Cup debut in 2006 for Seleção das Quinas under the captaincy of Luis Figo. That was Figo’s last World Cup as he steered Portugal to their best finish in 40 years, finishing fourth.

Later, Cristiano Ronaldo helped Portugal win the European Championships in 2016, the nation’s only continental title in history. On the global stage, Portugal’s best finish has come under Ronaldo at the 2022 edition, when they reached the quarter-finals before losing to Morocco.

The 41-year-old has played 23 games for Seleção das Quinas in six campaigns. scoring eight goals and recording two assists. However, he’s still trailing former attacker Eusébio on the list, as the Benfica icon bagged nine goals for Portugal during the 1966 tournament.
