England starting lineup vs Mexico confirmed for FIFA World Cup 2026 match

Mexico and England are set to face each other tonight.

England will face co-host Mexico at their home stadium, Estadio Azteca, in Mexico City in the round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. El Tri have not conceded a single goal in the tournament so far; meanwhile, the Three Lions, whose defence looked rock solid during the qualification stage, have conceded three.

Additionally, Captain Harry Kane has been the saviour for Thomas Tuchel’s side, scoring five out of the eight goals the team has scored in the tournament so far. After scoring in the first game off the bench, Marcus Rashford has not failed to find the back of the net, while Bukayo Saka is unlikely to play the full 90 minutes due to injury woes.

On the other hand, the Mexican side has been flourishing under Javier Aguirre in front of the home crowd. Gilberto Mora has become the second-youngest player to feature in a kickoff game, only after football icon Pelé. Thus, England are going to face significant difficulties in the round of 16 clash; however, the team knows how to deal with challenges.

Nick O’Reilly, who has also helped the side with creating goal-scoring opportunities, will feature as the left-back while Declan Rice will take the holding role. Elliot Anderson will provide balance to the tactical framework, while Jude Bellingham will play in a significantly attacking role.

England’s all-time top scorer in the FIFA World Cup, Harry Kane, will start upfront while Bukayo Saka and Anthony Gordon will be on the wings.
