England and Argentina will play at the Atlanta Stadium.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is only a few matches away from the conclusion of one of the grandest tournament editions so far. In an iconic semi-final clash, England and Argentina are set to renew one of the most historic rivalries at the Atlanta Stadium in Georgia, USA.

England, under manager Thomas Tuchel, will target to win only their second World Cup title, since their monumental victory in 1966. The Three Lions had an excellent group stage campaign. They finished as group leaders, unbeaten.

In the knockout stages, they first managed a comeback win against DR Congo in the Round of 32, securing a 2-1 victory. England then managed a hard-fought 3-2 win over tournament co-hosts Mexico in the Round of 16, despite being restricted to 10 men. They then defeated Norway 2-1 in the quarter-finals to qualify for the semi-finals for the first time since 2018.

Argentina, captained by icon Lionel Messi, will target their consecutive title to become only the third nation to achieve the feat. They had an exceptional start to the tournament, securing the top spot in their group with a perfect record.

Similar to England, La Albiceleste had an equally difficult path thereafter. They first managed a hard-fought 3-2 win against Cape Verde in the Round of 32. Argentina then scripted a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory against Egypt in the Round of 32, after being 2-0 down until the 78th minute.

They then defeated Switzerland 3-1 in the quarter-finals after extra time to confirm their spot in the semi-finals. It meant securing consecutive semi-final appearances for the first time in the nation’s history.

England and Argentina share one of the most historic and fierce rivalries in world football, having previously met five times at the World Cup. Their most iconic meeting came during the 1986 World Cup quarter-finals. Diego Maradona scored the infamous “Hand of God” and the legendary “Goal of the Century” to guide Argentina to a 2-1 victory.
