Erling Haaland scored twice for the Vikings in tonight’s Brazil vs Norway match.
Norway sealed a shock 2-1 win over Brazil in their Round of 16 clash in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on July 5. The Vikings were powered by a second-half brace from Erling Haaland, who tied with Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi in the Golden Boot race.
The first half saw two big moments, despite producing no goals. Patrick Berg had a goal ruled out for offside in the third minute. The Selecao were then awarded a penalty in the 12th minute, but Bruno Guimaraes’ effort was saved by Orjan Nyland.
Haaland then opened the scoring in the 79th minute, before doubling the advantage in the 90th minute with a fine shot from outside the box. Neymar pulled a goal back in the dying seconds from the spot, but it proved to be too little, too late for Carlo Ancelotti’s men.
The result sealed a place in the quarter-finals for the Vikings, who will face the winner of the match between Mexico and England.

The Manchester City striker has been in fine form for club and country and reached several milestones with his goalscoring display against Brazil. He has scored in each of his last 14 competitive matches for the Vikings, netting 26 goals during that period.
It also marked his seventh goal in the tournament, tying the record of Mbappe and Messi in the ongoing World Cup. This made the Norwegian striker the first player to score seven goals in his first four appearances in the quadrennial tournament. He only trails Germany’s Gerd Muller, who scored eight goals in 1970.
Haaland’s seven goals in the tournament made him the joint top-scorer for the Vikings in the World Cup, matching the record of Henning Berg, Stig Inge Bjornebye, and Kjetil Rekdal.
The 25-year-old forward also became only the fourth player to score four match-winning goals in the tournament. He joined Poland’s Grzegorz Lato, Italy’s Salvatore Schillaci, and Germany’s Gerd Muller.
Other than the goals, Haaland had a brilliant all-round display tonight. He won all four of his aerial duels against the Selecao, marking the highest aerial duel success rate of any striker in recorded World Cup history.
