Elsewhere, The Blues are reportedly not keen to extend Gonzalo Higuain's stay at the club.

Premier League club, Chelsea FC played a friendly against the New England Revolution in Boston for the 'Say No To Anti-Semitism' campaign on Wednesday. Maurizio Sarri fielded his strongest in bid to prepare for their UEFA Europa League final on 29th May. A brace from Ross Barkley and a strike from Olivier Giroud sealed the win for the Blues.

But, the game did not go as planned for the Italian tactician. Ruben Loftus-Cheek limped off with a suspected ankle injury during the game, handing a major blow for the Europa League title. The England midfielder had to be helped away from the pitch after going down in the second half and was later seen on crutches.

Loftus-Cheek had come on as a second-half substitute for Mateo Kovacic.

Prior to the game, Sarri was sceptical with the timing and essence of the game.

"We go there for a good reason I think, so as a man I am very happy to go there,” he said.

“As a coach, of course, I am a little bit worried because I know very well that the team now needs rest.

“So it is not the best way to prepare for the final, I think.”
