5 intriguing coincidences in European football you may not have known
Some of these instances and the strange relationship between them will leave you scratching your head.
As a game, football has always proved to be a sport which amazes its fans all over the world. Be it the gameplay or the facts associated with it, the beautiful game has a penchant for the dramatic and it also finds us few things which leave us in awe. Here, we at Khel Now give you a glimpse at the weird and wonderful world of football through the top five coincidences that the game has ever seen.
5. Age is more than just a number
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are undoubtedly the two best players of our generation. Between them, they have over 1200 goals for their respective clubs and countries. The legends differ in age by 869 days, the same number of days as their sons, Thiago and Cristiano Jr. Quite the coincidence.
4. A Brian and a Ryan
Between 2013-2014, Leeds United were managed by Brian McDermott, a former member of the Arsenal youth setup. In his time at Leeds, Ryan Hall, a winger who was 25-years of age at the time was on the books at the club. Here is where it gets bizarre. The Leeds Rhinos, the rugby team from Leeds that played in the rugby league were also managed by a man named Brian McDermott and had a 25-year-old winger named Ryan Hall on their books.
3. Paul Scholes – He scores goals
Despite being slow, short and severely asthmatic, Paul Scholes is one of the greatest players to set foot on a football pitch. With 718 appearances for Manchester United and having won every domestic and European trophy on offer, there is no doubt that he is a legend of the game. The midfielder managed to score on his debut as well as his 100th, 200th, 300th, 400th, 500th and 700th appearance. Not bad for a little Salford schoolboy.

[KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS]Jose Mourinho very recently saw his stint at Manchester United come to an end after a tumultuous start to the season, with his side reaching their worst points tally after 17 games in the Premier League. The Portuguese manager was sacked after he lost to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool. Surprisingly, this is not the first time that has happened.
Mourinho was sacked by Real Madrid following his loss to Klopp’s Dortmund side, then he was sacked by Chelsea in 2015 after a loss to Klopp’s Liverpool and most recently by Manchester United for the same.
