For their round of 32 contest at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Argentina national football team faced off against the Cabo Verde national football team. The interesting contest took place at the Miami Stadium.

The Argentina national football team came up with some more chances, but Vozinha and the Cape Verdean defence did not let them get through.
Bubista’s men kept their dream alive after Deroy Duarte fired the ball at the back of the net in the second half. It was the first-ever goal for Cabo Verde in the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup. Their Cinderella run was going strong and they took Argentina to extra time.

Facundo Medina injury
During the 86th minute of the Argentina vs Cabo Verde FIFA World Cup 2026 round of 32 fixture, Lionel Scaloni had to make an instant change in the 86th minute after Facundo Medina went down on the ground after his legs gave up on him.
By the looks of it, the injury did not look severe, but the 27-year-old limped off the field. Facundo Medina suffered an apparent calf injury.
He played a crucial role for the Argentina national football team in the left-back position. At times, he showed his attacking instincts as well and helped his side on the left flank.
Argentina won the match 3-2, with two goals coming in added time. They will now face Egypt in the Round of 16.
