(Courtesy : ISL Media)
The Marina Machans entered the final of ISL 2019-20 after a gritty collective display despite the loss.
The second leg of the semi-final between FC Goa and Chennaiyin FC delivered on all fronts, as the game saw six goals being scored. The hosts came out as the winners on the night with a 4-2 scoreline, but it was the visitors that emerged victorious over the two legs after winning the fixture 6-5 on aggregate, enabling them to enter the final of the Indian Super League 2019-20.
An early own-goal from Lucian Goian, a brace from Mourtada Fall and a late strike from Edu Bedia were not enough to secure a place in the showpiece for the Gaurs, as strikes from Lallianzuala Chhangte and Nerijus Valskis were enough to send the Marina Machans into the final.

Match Highlights: FC Goa 4-2 Chennaiyin FC
The Indian contingent on both sides kept their performance levels high and played their parts well for their respective teams. Here are the player ratings from the game:

FC Goa
Mohammad Nawaz- 5.0
Mohammad Nawaz could have done better to handle the initial shot from Rafael Crivellaro, instead of deflecting it into the path of an advancing Chhangte that led to the opening goal.
He could not have done much about the second goal from Valskis, who scored from a header at point-blank range.
Seriton Fernandes- 5.5
Seriton Fernandes did combine well with Jackichand Singh on the right flank in the first half and initiated several attacking moves.
However, the two goals that his side conceded seemed to have taken a toll on the young full-back who, ran out of steam and started taking rash decisions in the final third.
Mandar Rao Desai- 5.5
Mandar Rao Dessai, playing in his 100th game for the Gaurs had a mixed outing. He was decent in the first 45 minutes, made several forward runs and kept the ball rolling with his sharp passing.
However, he would have hoped to contribute more on the attacking front, as he made only one cross inside the box in the whole game.
Lenny Rodrigues- 5.5
Lenny Rodrigues played a safe game and allowed his team to transition smoothly from defence to attack. He played his part in his side dominating possession, as he was quick to close down passing lines and make interceptions.

Brandon Fernandes- 7.5
Brandon Fernandes is justifying the tag of being one of the most creative domestic players in the ISL. His pinpoint delivery led to the second goal for his side and he was a constant threat with his accurate long balls into the opposition’s penalty box.
Jackichand Singh- 6.5
Jackichand grew in confidence as the game went on and it was his dangerous cross early on that led to Lucian Goian inadvertently guiding the ball into his own net.
The winger showed exceptional movement off the ball and was constantly on the end of through balls from the midfielders. It was a good contest between him and the equally pacy Jerry Lalrinzuala.
Substitutions
Manvir Singh- 6.0
Manvir Singh was brought on to inspire his team to score more goals. The striker almost contributed with a well taken header which narrowly missed the target and hit the upright.
Saviour Gama- 4.0
Saviour Gama could not repeat his exploits from the first leg off the bench. He ended up getting himself sent off after being handed two second half yellow cards by the referee.

Chennaiyin FC
Vishal Kaith- 4.5
Although, Vishal Kaith conceded four goals on the night, the custodian made three vital saves later in the game to keep his side afloat and enter the final of the league.
Jerry Lalrinzuala- 4.5
Jerry was up against an in-form Jackichand on the right flank and the contest between the two was evenly-matched. He was found out of position on several occasions, but settled well as the game went on.
Laldinliana Renthlei - 5.0
Laldinliana Renthlei has been a good performer on a consistent basis in the latter part of the league. However, the right-back had a quiet night and had to do a lot of defending, especially in the first-half. He made seven tackles overall and was strong in winning the ball back and keeping the likes of Coro or Mandar under check.

Edwin Vanspaul- 5.0
Edwin Vanspaul was lacklustre in the center of the park for the duration of his stay in the game. He was not able to make much of a difference and was outplayed by the experienced midfielders of the opposition.
Anirudh Thapa- 5.5
After being under a lot of pressure and having to do a lot of chasing of the ball in the first half, Anirudh Thapa was instrumental in turning the tide of the game in his side’s favour.
The midfielder was a workhorse in the middle and came away with an 85% passing success rate as well. His left-footed volley, saved by the keeper, was one of the most eye-catching glimpses from the game.
Lallianzuala Chhangte- 6.5
Chhangte scored his seventh goal of the campaign after pouncing on a rebound in the box, thereby opening his team’s account on the night.
He was also impressive in the rest of the game and had two more shots on target and also created one other scoring opportunity.

Substitutions
Germanpreet Singh- 6.0
Germanpreet Singh was brought on to bring some fight in a midfield which was getting overrun by the opposition. He did his job well, made several crunching tackles and interceptions.
The midfielder also had a good scoring chance, but his shot was tame and was easily saved.
Thoi Singh- 5.0
Thoi Singh was brought on by the tactician to add more energy and tenacity, but left a lot to be desired, often running after the ball like a headless chicken. He also looked bereft of ideas once on the ball.
