Fenerbahce vs Liverpool Preview, prediction, injury news & lineups | UEFA Champions League 2026-27

Iraola’s Reds eye fourth consecutive UCL win with win over Yellow Canaries in Istanbul

Framed by the wide-open avenues of modern New Istanbul, the Chobani Stadyumu gears up to host a Matchweek 4 fixture in the UEFA Champions League 2026-27. Home team Fenerbahce and Liverpool face each other in what is set to be a thrilling clash.

The Yellow Canaries are placed 31st in the UCL points table and are yet to win a game so far in Europe this season. Their opening clash in the UCL ended in a 1-1 draw against Italian giants Roma after Archie Brown equalised for the Istanbul outfit.

They faced a 6-0 defeat to Aston Villa after Ross Barkley and Nicolas Jackson scored a brace in Birmingham in the second matchweek. They are coming off a 2-2 draw against Slavia Praha in their most recent game.

Fenerbahce’s home form has been pretty solid, scoring in all nine or more home games since August 2024 and clocking an average of 2.5 goals per home game.

The Reds find themselves jointly atop the points table after nine points from three games. In the opening matchweek, the Reds won 2-1 against Atletico Madrid before getting the better of LASK 6-3 in a nine-goal thriller. In their most recent match, Iraola’s side won 4-3 against Villarreal.

Despite Fenerbahce’s strong home support in Istanbul, Liverpool have done pretty well away from home in the last four away games, winning all four and scoring eleven.

Players to Watch

Nelson Semedo (Fenerbahce)

The Portuguese full-back has donned jerseys of teams like Wolverhampton Wanderers, Barcelona and Benfica before making a move to Turkiye with Fenerbahce. He has a lot of experience playing against English sides during his spell with Liverpool.

He will be up against Cody Gakpo on the wings. Semedo also routinely covers deep space behind advanced defensive lines and is a beast on the right flank.

Rio Ngumoha (Liverpool)

The teenager came off the bench against Arsenal in the last game. He went on to give two assists in Liverpool’s most recent win over Villarreal at Anfield. He started in all three games for Liverpool so far in the UEFA Champions League and will be a key player to watch out for.

After making the high-profile move from Chelsea’s academy to Liverpool, Rio went on to win the Premier League with the Reds. He has a terrifying presence on the left flank and uses a sudden change of pace to push past defenders on the wings.
