The FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final stage will end on July 11.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is nearing its business end, with the quarter-final stage beginning on July 9. France became the first team to book their place in the semi-finals of the expanded 48-team edition in North America after a hard-fought 2-0 win over Morocco at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, tonight.

After a goalless first half, during which Kylian Mbappe had a penalty saved by Yassine Bounou, Les Bleus finally broke the deadlock at the hour mark through the Real Madrid forward. Mbappe found the back of the net with a sublime finish from the edge of the box.

The French number 10 then turned provider, teeing up Ousmane Dembele for the second goal of the night just six minutes later. That goal sealed the victory for the two-time world champions and booked their place in the semi-finals, where they will face either Spain or Belgium.
