The World Cup quarter-final stage will end on July 11.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-finals are fully underway, with the eight remaining teams looking to book their places in the last four of the expanded 48-team edition in North America. Spain joined France as the second quarter-finalist with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Belgium at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on July 10.

La Roja took the lead through Fabian Ruiz, who found the back of the net in the 30th minute after Thibaut Courtois parried the initial shot from Dani Olmo. However, Charles De Ketelaere equalised just before half-time with a brilliant diving header.

Both teams had chances to score the winner, but the deadlock remained intact. The breakthrough came in the 88th minute. Senne Lammens made a save from a long-range shot, but the rebound fell kindly to Mikel Merino, who poked it in from close range.

The result sealed La Roja’s place in the semi-finals, where they will face France.
