Folarin Balogun is one of the main attackers for the United States men’s national team (USMNT). He provides pace, precision finishing, and European experience to Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Born in New York City and bred in England, the attacker has swiftly established himself as a key member of the USMNT attack. All owing to his eye for goal and ability to lead the line against high international opposition, including at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He progressed through Arsenal’s famed youth system before having a breakout season on loan at Stade de Reims. His scoring heroics in Ligue 1 drew extensive notice around Europe.

Folarin Balogun is 24 years old. He was born on July 3, 2001, in New York City, before going to England as an infant. There, he spent most of his upbringing and grew into a soccer player.

Despite having represented England at various youth levels, he remained eligible to play for the United States due to his birthplace. He formally committed to the USMNT in 2023, when FIFA approved his change of sporting nationality.

Folarin Balogun made his debut for the USMNT on June 15, 2023. He started in a CONCACAF Nations League semifinal versus Mexico. This came only weeks after moving from England to the United States.

Goal 1 & 2: USA 4-1 Paraguay

The United States defeated Paraguay 4-1 at SoFi Stadium to begin their first home FIFA World Cup in 32 years. The score was the USMNT’s greatest World Cup victory margin since 3-0 triumphs in the inaugural edition in 1930.

Folarin Balogun had a star performance, scoring twice in his World Cup debut. The AS Monaco attacker became the first American player to score more than once in a World Cup game since Bert Patenaude in 1930.

Goal 3: USA 2-0 Bosnia & Herzegovina

Folarin Balogun scored in the 45th minute for the USMNT. It was in their World Cup round of 32 encounter against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday, July 1, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The goal gave the host nation a lead in the game.
