Goa Pro League: Five-star FC Goa hammer Velsao SCC

Shubham Rao Dessai scored the only goal for the hosts.

FC Goa scored a comfortable 5-1 win over Velsao SCC in the Goa Professional League at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Sunday.

Doyal Alves (38’, 73’) scored a brace while Hayden Fernandes (43’), Christy Davis (4’) and a Sadik Shaikh (84’) own goal helped FC Goa score five goals against Velsao SCC. Shubham Rao Dessai (9’) got on the score sheet for Velsao.

The young Gaurs now have 30 points from 17 matches while stay on 11th position with 15 points from 19 games. FC Goa scored the first goal in the 4th minute through Christy Davis,which was soon cancelled out by Velsao SCC’s Shubham Rao Dessai in theeighth minute.

The later part of the match saw both the sides play end to end battle but the goal eluded them. However, in the 38th minute FC Goa U-20 Doyal Alves scored his first goal of his GPL campaign to regain their lead.

In the 40th minute, Velsao SCC conceded a penalty when their defenderbrought down FC Goa’s Nestor Dias in the box. Hayden Fernandes steppedover and coolly scored past the Velsao keeper Presley Mascarenhas, 3-1. The half time score read 3-1 in favour of the Gaurs.

In the second half FC Goa continued from where they had left from and in the 73rd minute Doyal bagged his second of the evening when he guided the ball at the back of the net.

Things got from bad to worse for Velsao as they conceded their fifth goal in the 84th minute when Sadiq guided the ball into his own net.
