Salgaocar silence rejuvenated Bardez in Goa Pro League
The hosts lost their second match in a row while the visitors now won two on the bounce.
Salgaocar FC came from a goal down to beat Bardez FC by a 3-1 margin in the Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium earlier on Monday.
Salgaocar were high on confidence after scoring four goals against Corps of Signals in the last round match. The Salgaocar coach Levino Pereira made two changes to his side as midfielder Jovan Dias and striker Ribhav Sardessai found their names in the starting XI. On the other hand, Bardez coach Savio D’Souza also made few changes following a 5-0 defeat against Dempo SC in the last match as Luis Miranda, Carl Dsouza and Aniket Agarwadekar made the cut.
The match started with an attacking brand of football from the Green Brigade as they came close to scoring in the seventh minutes when Ronaldo Oliveira went for the glory from the top of the box but Bardez keeper Urgen Pintso denied him with a brilliant block.
A great opportunity went into the vain in the 18th minutes when Sanson Pereira sent a perfect cross to Ribhav in the box but the striker failed to convert the easy chance as Bardez keeper Urgen collected it on time.
A few minutes later, Bardez shot stopper Urgen came with another fine save as this time he dived to his right to clear Ronaldo’s goalbound shot for a corner. A very next minute, Sanson made another curling cross in the box but Devendra Murgaonkar’s header missed the target by few inches.
With just a few minutes left to the halftime, Salgaocar created another opportunity but a powerful freekick from Ronaldo brushed Bardez custodian’s hand and rebound off the crossbar.
At the other end, the host stunned the opponents with an opening goal in the 45th minutes as a low cross from Richard Cardoz was brilliantly tapped in by Dwayne Ticlo to sent all the supporter in the raptures.
They had a chance to double their lead in the added time when a Richard curled the ball in the box from the freekick but Bardez skipper Cho Lepcha failed to connect from close.

On crossing over, Salgaocar U-20 midfielder Chaitan Komarpant made a perfect through pass to Samuel Costa in the box but Bardez defender Miranda cleared it before the striker could make any damage to his side.
Just after crossing the hour mark, Bardez keeper Urgen came with two breathtaking saves as he first blocked Denil Rebello’s goalbound attempt, while a few minutes later, the custodian came off the line to thwart Salgoacar skipper Mackroy Peixoto in a one-on-one situation.
Bardez finally surrendered their lead in the 72nd minute when their defender Mobin Rai handled the ball to give away the penalty kick to the opponents. Salgaocar skipper Mackroy stepped forward and calmly converted from the spot to make it 1-1 for the Green Brigade.

Pumped up by the goals, Salgaocar added another to their tally in the 90th minutes as this time Godfray Mascarenhas long ball was brilliantly released to Stephen Satarkar in the box who made no mistake to slot the ball from close making the final score 3-1 for the visitors.
