How will FIFA’s rule be broken at the World Cup 2026 final?

The FIFA World Cup 2026 final will feature a halftime show in which artists like Madonna, Shakira, and Justin Bieber will perform. With all these celebrities and a few others performing, the halftime show is likely to exceed the traditional 15-minute limit during the mid-match break.
According to FIFA rules, the halftime break should not be exceeded; however, at the ongoing World Cup, it is set to be broken. Football fans should expect a break of more than 15 minutes on Sunday at the New York New Jersey Stadium on July 19.
According to the Independent, the show is expected to last around 20 minutes. Last year, a similar halftime show took place at the same venue during the final of the FIFA Club World Cup (2025). It was played between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
The show lasted 24 minutes, with Coldplay, J Balvin, Doja Cat, Tems, and Emmanuel Kelly performing at MetLife Stadium. Meanwhile, at the upcoming final, K-pop boy band BTS, Chris Martin, Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel, and the PS22 Chorus featuring Coldplay will also be involved.
The event’s closing ceremony will also take place at the stadium. The closing ceremony will feature the names of top celebrities, including Tom Cruise, Laura Pausini, Nicole Scherzinger, Robbie Williams, and IShowSpeed. Nevertheless, Jennifer Hudson is to sing the United States’ national anthem.
