The Mariners could dip into their squad against the Punjab outfit...

Mohun Bagan could make some changes to their starting lineup against Minerva Punjab FC in their third I-League fixture on Tuesday. Bagan head coach Sanjoy Sen however revealed that he is not a big fan of experimenting with a winning line-up and will stick to minimal changes in the squad against the Punjab-based club.

“I don’t make too many changes to the team, ” said Sanjoy Sen to the reporters in the pre-match conference in Kolkata on Monday. However, he also revealed that he had no choice but to replace some of the players from the last gameweek's lineup that won against Shillong Lajong with a 2-0 score.

The Kolkata giants have been touted as one of the title favorites in the current I-League season. With a busy transfer window, the Mariners have secured the services of some of the best players in the league in the last season and also have been successful retaining their star trio of Sony Norde, Katsumi Yusa and Jeje Lalpekhlua. New arrival Darryl Duffy has started both of their first two I-League fixtures and scored a brace against Lajong on Sunday. However, Norde has been absent in both the matches as the Haitian did not reach the city until last Sunday and is expected to play against Minerva Punjab in his first competitive match of the season.

“Whether he is still fit to play 90 minutes or not we will have to see,” said the Bagan head coach when asked if Norde will make the cut in Bagan’s starting lineup against Minerva the newly promoted I-League side. Bagan forward Balwant Singh is also doubtful to start the match against the Punjab-based team with Jeje Lalpekhlua, the AIFF Player of the Year set to replace Singh in the starting lineup.

Mohun Bagan’s starting lineup against Minerva is expected to look even more different tomorrow as veteran defender Kingshuk Debnath is out with a knock, as is midfielder Sehnaj Singh. New arrival Eduardo Ferreira is also expected not to start as he is yet to regain much-needed match fitness, confirmed Sen.
