About the player
Tursunov began his professional football career at FC Regar-TadAZ, a club that plies its trade in the Tajik League. He then joined top-flight rivals FC Istiklol midway through the 2017-18 season, and remained with them for almost two years. During this time, he also made his debut for the Tajikistan national team, and has since gone on to play 21 more international matches for his country.
Ahead of the 2019-20 I-League season, the forward signed for Mohun Bagan. He made eight appearances for the Mariners in that title-winning campaign, scoring twice and assisting two more. The following year, he shifted base to TRAU, where he played 14 games, netted six times and registered seven assists. The highlight of his league campaign happened in his maiden game for the Red Pythons, when he scored the fastest-ever goal in the I-League within nine seconds after kick-off.
Thanks to the 25-year-old's efforts, TRAU were able to finish in third position in the championship table behind Gokulam Kerala and Churchill Brothers last season. At the end of the campaign, Komron Tursunov shifted back to his home country where he signed with FC Khujand. He will now return to India and play for Rajasthan United in I-League 2021-22.
