Davinder Singh is set to sign for I-League side Real Kashmir, Khel Now can confirm. The 26-year-old priorly featured for Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League (ISL). A source close to the development informed Khel Now, “Davinder Singh will sign a one-year contract with the snow leopards. He’ll feature for them in the upcoming I-League campaign.”
As per sources, Real Kashmir management considers Davinder Singh as a perfect addition to improve the strength of their defensive line. Moreover, Davinder’s national team experience and compatibility to play in different positions in the game have added more interest from the club.
About the player
Davinder Singh learned the fundamentals of football from Dalbir Football Academy in Ludhiana. Young Davinder along with his friends attended the trials for mere milk and banana given after each training session in Dalbir Football Academy.
In his academy days, football was not much of a priority for him owing to his poor background. To make ends meet, the player tried joining the Army in his youth where he passed the physicals but went on to fail in the following tests.
Davinder Singh's life-changing moment occurred when playing for Punjab University in the All India Inter-University Games. In a crucial game against Kolkata, he scored two goals and assisted once to get his team to the top of the table. His eye-catching performance attracted the attention of the scouts and the then national team head coach Stephen Constantine, who was scouting for future stars. Straight from Inter-University games to the India U-23 squad, everything came in as magic for the young 21-year-old budding footballer.
Davinder Singh debuted in the national colours coming in as a substitute against Singapore in the AFC U-23 Championship qualifiers in 2018. He impressed the national team head coach with his brilliant outing which eventually led to his promotion to the senior team. He played a total of three matches for the Indian senior side.

The young right-back made his debut in the ISL for Mumbai City in the 2017/18 season. In the process, he appeared eight times for the Islanders. In 2021, Davinder shifted his base to Chennaiyin FC but managed to play just a single match for the Marina Machans.
Real Kashmir FC's preseason preparation
Real Kashmir survived relegation by two points last season. The Snow Leopards finished with 14 points from a total of 17 matches and managed to pip the now-relegated Kenkre FC. The club has recently signed midfielder Girik Khosla from Sreenidi Deccan. Former NorthEast United goalkeeper Sanjiban Ghosh is another major arrival at the club. The acquisition of Davinder Singh will surely add more options and strength to the defensive third of Real Kashmir.
