India vs Brazil LIVE - Confirmed starting lineups & pre-match updates for International Friendly clash
India are poised to play arguably their most challenging opponent in decades when they host five-time FIFA World Cup champions Brazil at the Salt Lake Stadium (Kolkata) on Saturday (3 October 2026) for a historic international friendly.
It’ll be a tie in which the Blue Tigers have to perform as if playing in a FIFA World Cup final itself, as getting a positive result against the Seleção can significantly bolster their reputation in world football and prove positive signs for the future of Khalid Jamil’s side.

After spending the last few years mostly playing against Asian opponents or lowly-ranked sides from other continents, India are finally getting to play some of the very best in world football in Brazil.
For Khalid Jamil, it’s the ideal situation to prove that his side can hold up against some of the best in the world at the international stage. He will, of course, need to shape his side to maintain a really sturdy defensive line in order to hold their own against Brazil. Indeed, the Blue Tigers have to be disciplined and proactive in cutting out areas of opportunity for the Brazilian players and mark them tightly to make it difficult to play their natural game.
Moreover, the Indian players also need to be brave in moving the ball forward quickly in transitions and finish chances efficiently to be able to surprise the South American giants.
Any positive result against Brazil, be it a stunning win or even a draw, would be historic for India and prove this group of players can handle any major threat thrown their way.
A crushing loss, however, would be a bit disappointing after their promising recent performance against Panama.

This might only be a friendly, but Carlo Ancelotti will push his players to play entertaining attacking football and produce well-crafted moves to entertain the crowd.
He will want his players to maintain their winning momentum, which is why he will urge them to be ruthless in the final third and control the game strongly to frustrate the hosts.
A win would be quite routine for the Brazilian side. However, they know that being held to a draw or losing to a side not even in the top-100 in the FIFA World Rankings would be particularly embarrassing – one which they’re determined to avoid.
