Abdul Rabeeh set to join ISL outfit NorthEast United on two-year deal

Capable of playing as both a winger and wing-back, Rabeeh is expected to strengthen the Highlander’s squad.

NorthEast United FC are all set to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026-27 Indian Super League season, with Abdul Rabeeh expected to join the Highlanders on a two-year contract.

This move is subject to a successful medical, following which the club is expected to complete the formalities and officially announce the signing.

Abdul Rabeeh’s journey in the ISL so far

The winger’s journey has been one of steady growth. Coming from the passionate town of Mallapuram, He first made a name for himself with Hyderabad FC’s reserve side, where his performances earned him a promotion to the senior team.

After breaking into the first team, Rabeeh gradually established himself as a reliable member of the squad and eventually became a part of the starting 11 under coaches like Manolo Marquez, Thangboi Singto and Shameel Chembakath. His commitment, consistency and leadership qualities saw him wear the captain’s armband on a few occasions for Hyderabad FC, highlighting the faith the coaching staff had in him despite his relatively young age.

Following his journey at Hyderabad, Rabeeh moved to FC Goa in search of a fresh challenge under his previous coach Manolo Marquez. He initially had to settle for playing from the bench as he adapted to the Gaurs’ system. However, his impressive displays as an impact substitute soon earned him regular starts.

His pace, direct running and willingness to take on defenders made him an important outlet in attack, and he eventually cemented his place in the starting XI. His performances also earned him an Indian U-23 national team, previously highlighting the progress he has made in recent years.
