Al-Hussein vs East Bengal Player Ratings: Ramirez & Anwar shine in AFC Champions League Two 2026-27
The Red & Gold Brigade scored two goals against Al-Hussein SC.
The 2025-26 Indian Super League (ISL) champions, East Bengal FC began their AFC Champions League Two 2026-27 campaign with a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Jordan club Al-Hussein at the Amman International Stadium on Wednesday.
The Red and Gold Brigade did not get off to a promising start, but they capitalised on their first big chance in the 9th minute as Dani Ramirez gave his side an early lead. In the 40th minute, Anwar Ali doubled East Bengal’s lead with a close-range header.
In the second half, Mahmoud Almardi pulled one back for Al-Hussein, before Ahmad Assaf scored the equaliser for the Jordanian side.
This AFC Champions League Two match was quite a contest of two halves, with East Bengal finding the net twice in the first half, and Al-Hussein making a comeback with two strikes in the second.
East Bengal will host their next ACL Two match against Al-Shorta while Al-Hussein will travel to Oman for their next match against Al-Seeb.

Prabsukhan Singh Gill – 7.5/10
Prabhsukhan Singh Gill was once again calm and composed under the goalpost. He made some good saves throughout the game including few goal-line saves as well.
He proved once again that why he is the most reliable one under the goal post when it matters the most. But conceded two goals due to defensive errors from the red and gold defenders in the second half.
Anwar Ali – 9/10
Anwar Ali managed his defensive responsibilities well, rarely allowing his Al-Hussein markers time or space, and chose his moments to support the attacks carefully, along with his defensive duties.
He also scored the second goal from a beautiful corner kick taken by Dani Ramirez just before the halftime and gave East Bengal a 2-0 lead in the first half. Anwar Ali once again proved his worth in the backline along with debutant Zivulic despite a 2-2 draw against the home side Al-Hussein.
Diego Zivulic – 6.5/10
Diego Zivulic was quite impressive on his debut in East Bengal outfit. He maintained his positioning well and avoided major errors but did not significantly influence the game beyond the basic defensive duties.
But if he gets more match time, Zivulic can be a vital asset for the Red and Gold Brigade in the upcoming days in the backline along with Anwar.
Hardik Bhatt – 5.5/10
He was also responsible for the first goal that brought back Al-Hussein into the game in the second half during 60th minute of the game. Al-Hussein captain Al-Mardi scored the goal for the home side.
He failed to control the ball in the left flank and as a result East Bengal conceded the first goal. But other than that, he was quite good in patches. In the latter half of the game, he was replaced by Narender Gahlot.
Sandip Mandi – 5.5/10
Sandip showed the intent to get involved, showed pace and helped to maintain the basic structure, but struggled to keep his shape in the second half and due to which East Bengal conceded the second goal at the far end of the game.
There was a bit of miscommunication between him and Rohit Danu causing Assaf to equalise the game.
Jay Gupta – 6/10
Jay Gupta was functional in attack and disciplined as well. He kept the flanks under control and often kept possession, contributing to the team’s overall structure. But in the second half he sustained some cramps and was substituted by Rohit Danu in the 75th minute.
Jeakson Singh Thounaojam – 5/10
Jeakson was good in patches but failed to impress and did not play to his potential. The reliance on Jeakson will be more moving forward in the ACL Two 2026-27.

Mohammed Basim Rashid – 6.5/10
Rashid was very much effective on the field today and once again proved why he is the best recruit for East Bengal in the midfield in the recent past.
The captain was leading from the front, but his teammates will need to support him more to get some more positive results in the upcoming matches. Throughout the match, he remained a constant threat with his intelligent movement and positioning, often finding chances.
Mohammad Asif Khan – 5/10
Asif Khan failed to impress and did not play to his potential. His communication with Mohammed Rashid in the midfield was not upto the mark and was later on substituted by Bipin Singh in the second half of the game.
Daniel Ramirez Fernandez – 9/10
Dani Ramirez was one of the best players for the Torchbearers along with Anwar Ali despite the 2-2 draw. Ramirez gave East Bengal 1-0 lead during the first quarter of the game.
He scored a good goal following a rebound from Edmund’s initial shot.
Edmund Lalrindika – 5/10
He missed one easy goal, a sitter in the first half of the game. Edmund was quick on the flank and attempted to break the Al-Hussein defence.
He made several forward runs and helped during transitions. However, his final delivery and decision-making in key moments fell short. He was substituted later on by David Lalhlansanga. Even his few shots were saved by the Al-Hussein goalkeeper as well.
Substitutes
Bipin Singh – 5.5/10
Bipin Singh was involved in quite a few opportunities but couldn’t capitalise on those chances. He gave some stability to the left flank after coming on as sub in place of Asif Khan, but failed to convert one.
Narender Gahlot – 6/10
Narender Gahlot was quite effective after coming on as a sub in place of Hardik Bhatt in the left-back position and gave some stability to the backline.
He maintained his positioning well and avoided major errors but did not significantly influence the game beyond the basic defensive duties.
Rohit Danu– 5.5/10
Danu came in as a substitute for Jay Gupta tried to control the right flank and was good in patches but a miscommunication between him and Mandi made East Bengal concede the second goal in the fag end of the game.
David Lalhlansanga – N/R
He came in as a substitute replacing Edmund but could not have an impact in the game.
