FC Goa vs Al-Qadsia SC Preview: Lineups, Team News | AFC Challenge League 2026-27

FC Goa are still alive in the continental stage

FC Goa are set to face a major challenge in their hopes of qualifying for the quarterfinals of the 2026-27 AFC Challenge League when they face Al-Qadsia SC at the Mohammed Al-Hamad Stadium on Friday, 23 October (2026).

The Gaurs need a win to have any chance of progressing past the group stages, but they will have to produce something special to stop the blistering momentum of the hosts – who look to produce a thrilling display in front of their home fans.

The Stakes

FC Goa

What FC Goa must improve following their AFC Challenge League defeat to Regar-TadAZ
The Gaurs conceded two late goals in their AFC Challenge League debut.

FC Goa were able to win their first match of the 2026-27 AFC Challenge League with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Fortis FC. Doing so kept them in the race, still having a chance to progress into the next round of the competition, but they need to win their third group game to do so.

The Gaurs were able to reinvigorate their confidence levels with the win over Fortis FC recently, but their performance levels need to be much higher for them to stop the winning run of the Kuwaiti giants.

Gouramangi Singh must motivate his players to raise their energy levels and be more proactive throughout the clash against Al-Qadsia. They need to be more efficient at creating and finishing chances, and defensively much stronger than in their last two games.

A big win for FC Goa would keep their continental journey going and also be proof of their growth under the Indian gaffer, but a gutting loss or even a draw would result in elimination from the competition.

Al-Qadsia

Al-Qadsia beat Regar-TadAZ in their last game.

For Al-Qadsia, the prospect of home advantage has worked wonderfully in the 2026-27 AFC Challenge League so far. The Yellow Castle have been able to win both their group games with relative ease, not conceding a single goal and also being able to score four games.

For the Kuwait giants, it’ll now be a case of trying to keep riding their wave of momentum to get another compelling win in front of their fans.

Al-Qadsia will, of course, be respectful of FC Goa’s potential and will look to maintain the compact, unbreakable defensive line that has yet to concede a goal in the 2026-27 AFC Challenge League. They’ll also look to be exciting with their attacking plays, creating attractive moves to thrill the fans.

Another win for Al-Qadsia will allow them to win the group and move into the knockout stages with full confidence, but a possible loss could end up undoing all their good work from the last two games.

Team News

Gouramangi Singh should have a fully fit squad available for this big game against the Kuwaiti giants.

Al-Qadsia are also expected to have a fully available unit for the game against the Gaurs.

Head-to-Head Record

This will mark the first time that FC Goa and Al-Qadsia will face each other in competitive football.

Predicted Lineups

FC Goa (4-2-3-1)

Lara Sharma (GK), Ronney Kharbudon, Sandesh Jhingan, Alex Vallejo, Alex Zalaya, Haobam Singh, KC Malsawmsanga, Udanta Singh, Franchu, Jorge Ortiz, Chiki

Al-Qadsia (4-3-3)

Hameed Youssef (GK), Rashed Al Dousari, Khaled Hajiah, Khaled Al Fadhli, Moath Al Dhafiri, Dahman, Jasem Al-Mutar, Cedrik Gbo, Ayoub Lakhdar, Nasser Al-Rawahi, Hamza Khabba

Players to Watchout

Chiki (FC Goa)

AFC Challenge League 2026-27: Chiki’s 85th-minute winner fires FC Goa to victory over Fortis FC
Chiki scored in the 85th minute to win the match for FC Goa.

Chiki is the man in form for FC Goa heading into their decisive 2026-27 AFC Challenge League clash against Al-Qadsia, as he’s really picked up form for the Gaurs in the early part of the campaign. He’s scored in all three of their matches this season so far, including two goals in the Challenge League matches as well.

The 30-year-old forward is making the most of his experience to be a thorn in defenders, making clever runs into the danger zones and linking up really well with his teammates.

Chiki will need to be at his decisive best against Al-Qadsia to bolster FC Goa’s chances of defeating them. The Spanish forward needs to be unpredictable with his off-the-ball movement to dupe their defenders and be able to position himself in the right areas. Chiki has to be absolutely ruthless with his finishing to be able to bolster his side’s goal threat and give them an edge in this clash.

Nasser Al-Rawahi (Al-Qadsia)

Nasser Al-Rawahi scored the goal in the last Challenge League game.

Nasser Al-Rawahi played a prolific role in helping Al-Qadsia get a big win over Regar-TadAZ in their recent clash and is a player who is flying high on momentum for the Yellow Castle as well.

The speedy winger will look to make good use of his dribbling prowess and trickery to put the FC Goa defenders under pressure and open up avenues for his teammates.

The 25-year-old winger will look to get past the defenders with his clever movement and get the ball into the danger zones with his impactful crosses as well. However, Al-Rawahi will be adamant about trying to maintain his goal-scoring heroics as he looks to get to the end of chances and put them away effectively to help Al-Qadsia get another big win.
