The AFC Challenge League was introduced in 2014.

The 2024–25 AFC Challenge League marks the 11th edition of Asia’s third-tier continental club football competition, organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). This tournament, reintroduced for the first time since 2014 under its new name and revamped format, promises to deliver exciting football.

Featuring 20 teams, the AFC Challenge League will showcase emerging talents and clubs from across Asia, providing them with an international platform to compete and grow. The allocation of teams is based on the club competitions ranking, published following the conclusion of the 2022 competitions.
