Indian Super League (ISL) club East Bengal FC are looking to claim a berth in the 2024-25 AFC Challenge League semi-finals when they host Turkmenistan champions FK Arkadag at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan on Wednesday (March 5). The match will be available for live-streaming for fans in India.

The Red & Gold Brigade must win the home leg to earn an advantage ahead of the second leg game in Turkmenistan. However, they will not have it easy against a side that is the reigning Ýokary Liga champions. Oscar Bruzon needs his side motivated and hungry enough to produce a clinical performance and earn an early advantage before the second leg.

After winning the 2024 Super Cup title, East Bengal will aspire to excel in Asia and will be determined to end their season with silverware.

After a long time, the Red & Gold Brigade will be keen to make a mark in continental competition but will be determined to fight with Turkmenistan’s best. Fortunately for coach Bruzon, his team will have a home advantage, and he’ll need the players to feed off their fan’s bubbling energy to get the win.

FK Arkadag was only formed in 2023 but has had an impressive rise in Turkmenistan football, having won back-to-back Ýokary Liga championships. The Turkmenistan side has some dangerous players and has had a similar run as the Torchbearers to the quarter-final stage.

Bruzon will be banking on star striker Dimitrios Diamantakos, who has scored four of the nine goals in the competition. Diamantakos will again be the leading man for Bruzon against FK Arkadag, who have shown defensive fragility in AFC Challenge League games.

The Turkmenistan outfit’s danger man will be Begench Akmammedov, who can score crucial goals in crucial situations. Akmammedov had a pretty good outing in the 2024-25 AFC Challenge League group stages for his side, scoring two goals in two appearances and producing some bright performances. He is versatile enough to slot in easily in both the broad areas and be a focal point in attack.
