India vs Iraq Live: Follow AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers Live Updates

Indian Women’s Football team resume their AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 qualifiers campaign with a high-stakes clash against Iraq at the 700th Anniversary Stadium in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. After a commanding start to their Group B campaign, the Blue Tigresses will aim to keep the momentum going against a side that still harbours slim qualification hopes.
This penultimate group fixture holds significant weight for both teams. India, sitting atop Group B with six points and a +17 goal difference, are on the brink of progressing to the next round. Thailand trail closely behind, and only the top team from the group qualifies, so the margin for error is minimal.
For Iraq, who are third with four points, anything less than a win could shut the door on their AFC Women’s Asian Cup dreams. With just one more match to go after this, both sides know the importance of three points.

The Stakes
India Preview
India couldn’t have asked for a better start, thrashing Mongolia 13-0 and comfortably beating Timor-Leste 4-0. Coach Crispin Chhetri has rotated his squad effectively, using 22 outfield players across the two matches. Pyari Xaxa has led from the front with five goals, supported by strong performances from Manisha Kalyan, Anju Tamang, and Lynda Kom Serto.
However, the injury to Soumya Guguloth, who suffered a nasal fracture, is a blow to the team’s attacking depth. Despite this, India remain favourites, given their superior ranking and form.
Iraq Preview
Iraq’s campaign has been inconsistent. After a goalless draw against Timor-Leste and a 5-1 win over Mongolia, they suffered a 7-0 defeat at the hands of Thailand. Ranked 173rd in the world, Iraq will need to deliver something special to topple a confident Indian side.
Their defence struggled against Thailand, and they must tighten up if they hope to avoid another heavy loss. With qualification still mathematically possible, expect Iraq to come out fighting.
Head-to-Head
This will be the first-ever competitive meeting between India and Iraq in women’s football, making the encounter even more intriguing.
