India won over Timor Leste with a comfortable 4-0 win.

Indian Women’s Football Team continued their strong form in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers with a dominant 4-0 win over Timor-Leste at Chiang Mai’s 700th Anniversary Stadium on Sunday, June 29th 2025.

Winger Manisha Kalyan scored 2 goals in the 12th and 80th minutes, while Anju Tamang in the 58th minute and Lynda Kom Serto in the 86th minute also scored one goal each against Timor Leste, where India controlled the game from beginning to end.

The victory against Timor Leste lifts India to the top of Group B with six points from two games putting them ahead of Iraq and Thailand who face each other next. While the places in the group remain competitive, India’s dominant performances have significantly strengthened their position.

AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Group B Qualifiers table

Indian Women’s Football Team currently hold the top position in Group B. Having played two games and only two games left to play, against Iraq and the group hosts, Thailand, the team has been benefiting from positive results and a heavy goal margin. The victory against Mongolia by 13 goals followed by a 4-0 victory over Timor Leste pushed them through their standings. Since only the table-toppers moving ahead, the Blue Tigresses will have to keep their momentum going for the forthcoming matches.

Thailand claim the second spot in the group, level on points with India but behind on goal difference. Two wins in both games show their quality and consistency. Being the hosts of the qualifiers and one of the traditionally stronger teams, Thailand presents a huge hurdle. The clash against India could be the defining moment for the group B, with top spot and qualification at stake.

Iraq’s campaign has been a rollercoaster in the tournament with just a win, a draw, and a loss from their three games so far. Despite the inconsistency, they’ve shown potential. Their upcoming match against India will be crucial, not just for their own hopes, but also in shaping the final standings in Group B.

Timor-Leste too had a mixed bag of results with just one point from three games with one draw and two losses. However, despite seeing glimpses of promise in their gameplay, they are still ranked fourth in the Group B order.

Only having played a couple of games in the qualifiers, Mongolia stand languishing in the Group-B table, having met defeat in both the games and are yet to get the very first point in this tournament.

How can Team India qualify for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup?

Starting on a high, the Blue Tigresses secured a crucial win with a commanding goal difference, giving the team an early surge of momentum in the group stage.

But with only the group toppers progressing, the margin for error is less. Hence, from now on, each match will have to end in a victory and consistent performance will be key for Team India to remain in the race.

The Indian team has commenced on a promising note in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers under head coach Crispin Chhetri, winning the first two fixtures comfortably against Mongolia and Timor-Leste. Ahead, however, lie more formidable tests, including a must-win clash against Iraq and an important meeting with the higher-ranked hosts, Thailand.

Under the guidance of Coach Crispin Chettri, the Blue Tigresses are striving for history by being the first-ever Indian team to qualify for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup through the qualifiers which needs consistency, sharp focus, and giving their best on the field.
