Kitchee SC announce squad for AFC Women's Champions League; to play East Bengal in preliminary stage

The AFC Women’s Champions League Preliminary stage will start from August 25.

Kitchee SC, the 2024-25 Hong Kong Women’s League champions, have announced their squad for the AFC Women’s Champions League Preliminary Round. The preliminary round will start on August 25, with its conclusion scheduled for August 31. Kitchee SC have been placed in Group E along with the defending champions of the Indian Women’s League, East Bengal FC, and Cambodia’s Phnom Penh Crown.

The preliminary round will be played in a centralised format with one group of three teams and four groups of four teams. Group E’s preliminary round will be played at the National Sports Complex in Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s capital.

East Bengal to represent India

East Bengal would be the sole representative of India in the AFC Women’s Champions League Preliminary Round. The Red and Gold Brigade qualified for the preliminary round after they lifted the Indian Women’s League title earlier this year.

They dominated the league with 12 wins in 14 matches, accumulating 37 points. The challenge will be to continue the momentum on the Asian stage as they come up against Kitchee SC and Phnom Penh Crown. The matches in the preliminary round will be knockout affairs, and East Bengal will have to be at the top of their game from the first game. The Red and Gold Brigade will play their opening fixture against the hosts, Phnom Penh Crown, on August 25. Kitchee SC will be playing East Bengal on August 31.
