Three key players for East Bengal in Calcutta Football League derby

East Bengal have won all their matches in Calcutta Football League 2024 so far.
The most successful side in the history of the Calcutta Football League, East Bengal have started their Calcutta Football League 2024 campaign with a bang. The century-old club have played a couple of their league games already, earning comfortable victories in both.
The Red and Gold won with sheer domination in the first game, with a 7-1 scoreline against Tollygunge Agragami. The side also defeated George Telegraph in the second game, with a fantastic show in the second half, where they struck three goals.
East Bengal are hailing an enormous goal-difference before facing their arch-rivals Mohun Bagan in the famous Kolkata Derby, which will be the third game for both stalwarts. With form as deadly as this and a perfect side that boasts prolific youngsters and talented individuals, East Bengal will surely dream of becoming the first club with 40 CFL titles.

3. Shyamal Besra
The 2004-born East Bengal midfielder has already earned praise from the senior team’s head coach Carles Cuadrat. The youngster came into the limelight after his marvelous performances in the Reliance Foundation Development League, where he scored five goals and received five Best Player awards in the same number of games.
After his heroics with the junior team, Besra was promoted to the main squad and even played 45 minutes of a game in ISL 2023-24 against Punjab FC. Shyamal has featured in both the games of CFL so far. He opened the scoring for EB in the ongoing campaign. He is expected to be in plans for East Bengal’s ISL 2024-25 project.
2. Jesin TK
The 24-year-old promising winger has already started to show his effectiveness in CFL 2024. He has struck in both the games East Bengal have played so far, scoring a penalty in the first game while netting a goal in the 47th minute of the second.
His quality earned him some minutes against FC Goa and Kerala Blasters in ISL 2023-24. The form and skills he is displaying at present will surely make Cuadrat think of keeping him in his plans for the future. Jesin TK will be of high use for Bino George in the ongoing competition too.
1. Sayan Banerjee
The winger became an instant fan-favourite with his exceptional skills, pace and on-field mentality against the heavyweights when he stepped into East Bengal’s main squad in ISL 2023-24 and efficiently played in place of Nandhakumar Sekar or Naorem Mahesh Singh.
The 21-year-old usually operates from the left. He first played for the Red and Gold’s main team in the Kalinga Super Cup 2024 and has since then been an integral part. Sayan featured in eight ISL games last season and has played in both the CFL games so far. He scored a goal in the first one and netted a brace in the second.
