Devendra Murgaonkar joins Hyderabad FC; terminates contract with FC Goa ahead of ISL 2024-25
The former Gaurs attacker chose to swap jerseys and ply his trade for the Nizams.
Devendra Murgaonkar has decided to terminate his current contract with FC Goa which was set to expire in less than a year in 2025, and has instead opted to sign for fellow ISL club Hyderabad FC on the 2024 summer transfer deadline day in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25. The Nizams were acquired by corporate giants, the B.C. Jindal Group, a few days back, and that has allowed them to go on a last-moment signing spree.
The talented former Gaurs player becomes the club’s one of first signings and that too as a free agent. All hope seemed to be lost for the Nizams as they were almost guaranteed to be removed from the Indian Super League after rumours of non-payment of players’ contracts also arose in the meantime to add to all the chaos. However, the fate of the one-time ISL champions has taken an about turn as they are set to compete in the ISL 2024-25, and that too under new leadership.
Hyderabad FC have begun stamping their intent with noticeable Indian signings. The signing of a prolific forward in Murgaonkar, themselves speaks volumes of a set strategy in the minds of the club and recruitment personnel.

Devendra Murgaonkar is an experienced forward who has operated across the FC Goa frontline in the past and boasts unparalleled versatility with an even more impressive goal contribution of 17 (11 goals and six assists) in the ISL league stages and playoffs, AFC Champions League, Durand Cup, and Super Cup. His flexibility will be a vital asset for the Nizams alongside their other signings as they gear up for a solid return to the league.
