Mohun Bagan are the defending champions as Durand Cup 2024 kicks off on July 27.

The Durand Cup 2024 fixtures were announced on Friday, following the group revelations. The tournament opens with Mohun Bagan Super Giant facing Downtown Heroes on July 27th at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. The group stage wraps up with defending champions Mohun Bagan taking on East Bengal in a rematch of last season’s final on August 18th.

This year, 24 teams are split into six groups of four, totaling 43 matches in a round-robin format, followed by knockout rounds. Matches will be held in Kolkata, Kokrajhar, Shillong, and Jamshedpur, with the latter three cities hosting one group. Participants include teams from the Indian Super League (ISL), I-League, and armed forces from India, Nepal, and Bangladesh.

Group winners and the two best second-placed teams will progress to the knockout stage. In the previous edition, Mohun Bagan secured their 17th Durand Cup title by defeating East Bengal FC 1-0. The Durand Cup, known for its rich history and competitive spirit, is a prestigious event in Indian football.
