Liston, Majcen make headlines with goals galore

Liston Colaco took the mantle of being the main man for Mohun Bagan. The winger is among the top two on the goal-scoring charts with 5 goals to his name. It was evident from the first goal that he scored against Mohammedan SC in the opening game of the group stage that it will take some effort to stop him this year.
The blazing free-kick set the tournament in motion for him and the Mariners. Liston later went on to score a penalty to complete his brace in that game. He replicated the same in the second game against BSF FT, followed by another goal against Diamond Harbour FC to take his tally to five.
Another predictable name on the list is Luka Majcen. It is highly improbable that any contemporary goal-scoring chart in Indian Football would not boast of this name. The experienced Slovenian star is again doing what the fans expect from him – smashing goals. The recent switch to Diamond Harbour FC seems to be suiting Majcen, with four goals in his bag.
The star striker started his Durand Cup this year in the signature style as he scored the last-minute winner against the formidable Mohammedan SC to lead his side to a famous win. He went on to add two more to his tally against BSF FT in a convincing victory for Diamond Harbour. Majcen was also on the scoresheet against Mohun Bagan. It will be interesting to see if he leaps past Alaaeddine Ajaraie in the final.
New faces claim fame
The exciting youngster from Shillong Lajong, Everbrightson Sana, is another name among the top 5 goalscorers in the competition this year. He burst onto the scene with his eye-pleasing goals in the first two matches of the group stage. Sana opened his account in Lajong’s opener against Malaysian Armed Forces in front of the buoyed home crowd.
He bagged another one as Lajong banged six goals to start their campaign. Continuing his form, Sana netted again in the second match of the group stage against Rangdajied United FC, helping Shillong to bag another three points, consolidating their position in Group E. The most crucial goal in this competition for Sana was his last against Indian Navy FT in the quarter-final, which proved to be the winner for Shillong Lajong.
Tied with Luka Majcen is his partner at Diamond Harbour FC, Clayton. He has set foot in India in some fine goal-scoring form. The forward did not take too long to introduce himself to the fans as he scored all four of his goals in the second game of the group stage against BST FT.
The Brazilian exploited the weak BSF FT defense and gave them no respite. His partnership with Luka Majcen will be one to watch out for as Diamond Harbour aim to create something memorable.
The Moroccan talisman at the top

Was there ever any doubt that this man would not find a place in this list? Alaaeddine Ajaraie provided a banger of a start to NorthEast United FC as he scored a hat-trick in the group stage opener for them against Malaysian Armed Forces. With 7 goals in five games, Ajarie is at the top of the goalscoring charts in the Durand Cup 2025.
The Shillong crowd witnessed his famous celebration in the first half only as he opened the scoring in the 22nd minute of the group stage opener. From then there was no looking back with NEUFC cruising to a victory and Ajaraie completing his hat-trick. Northeast United fans would expect their talisman to continue this form as they aim to cross the last hurdle and lift the Durand Cup trophy for the second time in a row.
