5. Bidyashagar Singh (9 goals, 13 appearances)

The centre-forward from Manipur chose the Durand Cup to burst onto the scene. In the initial phase of his career, he stole the limelight with his consistent performances in the tournament. It was his first season in the Durand Cup that still stands as the best that he has had over the years.

Bidyashagar participated in the tournament for the first time in 2018-19 when he was playing for East Bengal FC. In just 4 appearances, he went on to smash 5 goals, making him one of the best performers of the tournament that year. The striker could not replicate that performance later, but has been in and around with his goal-scoring prowess.

4. Jorge Pereyra Diaz (9 goals, 13 appearances)

The Argentine fan-favorite finds himself in fourrth place among all-time highest goal scorers in the history of the Durand Cup. Playing for Mumbai City FC and Bengaluru FC, Diaz has racked up an impressive 9 goals in 13 appearances. His presence in the attack was influential for both clubs.

For Mumbai, he scored 6 goals in just 8 appearances, whereas for Bengaluru, he accumulated 3 goals in 5 appearances. Diaz’s hunger to expose the opposition’s defense made him stand apart from the rest.

3. Liston Colaco (10 goals, 19 appearances)

The 26-year-old star winger from Mohun Bagan features in this list with 9 goals to his name in 18 appearances. Liston Colaco is a treat to watch when he is on song, and the Goan has been on song more often than not in the Durand Cup. He likes the stage of the oldest football tournament in India and comes up with some of his best performances.

This season, particularly, is turning out to be the best for him. He has played only a couple of matches in this year’s Durand Cup but has already netted 5 times, taking his overall tally to 10. Colaco is on a roll and there are no signs of him stopping in this year’s competition.

The Moroccan showman is the only one in this list who has more goals than the number of appearances that he has made in the tournament. With a whopping 12 goals in just 9 appearances, Noah Sadaoui has been a highlight of the tournament for the last two seasons.

Scoring 6 goals in each, first for FC Goa and then for Kerala Blasters FC, Sadaoui has made sure he has etched his name in the glorious history of this tournament. The fans would fondly remember his heroics and flair that made the opposition stand still in awe

There are some tournaments that define the legacy of a player. Durand Cup is one such tournament for the talisman from Trinidad and Tobago. Marcus Joseph produced a performance of a lifetime in the 2018/19 edition of the tournament when he famously led Gokulam Kerala to Durand Cup triumph.

In just 5 appearances that season, Joseph netted an astonishing 11 times, running away with the Golden Boot. Subsequently, he represented Mohammedan SC in the later seasons and continued his goal-scoring streak to finish as the highest goal scorer in the history of the tournament.
