East Bengal signs Japanese striker Hiroshi Ibusuki from A-League
The ISL side has announced a new signing ahead of the 2025-26 season.
East Bengal FC is thrilled to announce the signing of Japanese forward Hiroshi Ibusuki until the end of the 2025-26 season. Ibusuki joins the Red & Gold Brigade from Australian A-League outfit Western United FC and has scored over 120 career goals.
Welcoming Ibusuki to the family, Mr Thangboi Singto, Head of Football at East Bengal FC said, “Hiroshi’s proven goal-scoring record in top-tier league, combined with his professionalism and hunger for success, aligns perfectly with our vision of building a dynamic, competitive squad.”

Seasoned campaigner joins red and gold brigade
Ibusuki brings a wealth of experience from top-flight leagues across continents. Known for his clinical finishing and aerial prowess, Ibusuki honed his skills in the youth ranks of Japan’s Kashiwa Reysol before embarking on his European adventure in 2009 with Spain’s Girona FC. Ibusuki spent the following two seasons on loan, with Real Zaragoza B and CE Sabadell.
In 2011, Ibusuki joined Sevilla FC and spent his first season with their reserves, before making his senior Sevilla debut in a high-stakes derby against Real Betis, showcasing his potential in top-tier football. Subsequent stints with Belgian side K.A.S Eupen and Valencia CF’s reserves further sharpened his abilities.
Returning to Japan in 2014, Ibusuki excelled with Albirex Niigata, JEF United Chiba, Shonan Bellmare and Shimizu S-Pulse, consistently delivering goals in competitive tournaments. His move to the Australian A League side Adelaide United in 2022 marked a prolific chapter in his career, where he scored on his club debut and demonstrated his work-rate and composure in the box.
Impressive record in A-League
Most recently, Ibusuki impressed with A League’s Western United, scoring vital goals that highlighted his predatory instincts and penchant for goals. Standing at 6 feet 5 inches, Ibusuki’s effectiveness as a forward and international pedigree, including appearances for Japan’s U-19 and U-22 national teams, make him a key reinforcement to the East Bengal first team.
East Bengal FC Head Coach Oscar Bruzon said, “Hiroshi is an experienced and classic centre-forward. His game style is defined by his physical presence, ability to win aerial duels, clinical finishing and link-up skills. He has played for elite clubs in various countries and has a reputation for being a deadly finisher.”
Delighted to join the Red & Gold Brigade, Ibusuki said, “This club has an incredible history and an amazing fan base, which makes it so popular in Asian football. I am honoured to be part of such an iconic outfit and help the team chase silverware in the upcoming tournaments. Some of my compatriots have already tasted success with East Bengal, and now I can’t wait to follow in their footsteps. Joy East Bengal!” The player registration is subject to completion of regulatory processes and pending medicals.
When will the next ISL season start?
The next Indian Super League season is expected to start in December 2025.
