Three East Bengal players who can benefit from Hamid Ahadad signing

East Bengal have qualified for the Durand Cup 2025 quarter-finals.

Hamid Ahadad made an instant impact for East Bengal in his debut for the club in the 2025 Durand Cup, scoring the winner in their 1-0 win over Namdhari FC. The Moroccan forward replaced Dimitrios Diamantakos in the second half and went on to score a cool header to grant all three points for his side.

Hamid has arrived at East Bengal with a lot of experience behind him and has also played for the Moroccan national team.

The 30-year-old is a sharp and pretty versatile forward who has been brought on board to add more firepower for Oscar Bruzon’s frontline going forward. Ahadad is already looking like a solid fit for the Red & Gold Brigade, as he seems to be quickly developing impressive chemistry with his teammates.

However, the Moroccan forward’s arrival will not only help amplify East Bengal’s goal threat, but also have a positive effect on those around him. There are certain East Bengal players who can particularly benefit from the 30-year-old’s presence in the team. Here we look at the three East Bengal players who can particularly benefit from Hamid Ahadad’s signing.

3. Bipin Singh

Like Hamid Ahadad, Bipin Singh has also been roped in as a new signing by East Bengal for the 2025-26 season. However, the ex-Mumbai City winger has seemingly settled in really nicely at his new club and will actually look to form a solid partnership with Ahadad for the foreseeable future.

That is because of the Moroccan’s impressive finishing ability which is ideal for Bipin’s creative qualities. Hamid has shown the ability to smartly link up with his teammates and has the idea of popping into the right positions.

Moreover, Hamid also has the ability to drift into the left-wing role if needed and can smartly interchange positions with Singh during matches to confuse defenders. Once the two players have the necessary chemistry, they can smoothly move around the final third to stretch the opposition backline and open up space for one another.

Singh will, of course, look to create chances for Hamid with his heroics on the left wing, but he can also be allowed into more goalscoring positions whenever the striker drops a bit deeper to open up empty space for the Indian winger.

Naorem Mahesh Singh has added responsibilities as the new East Bengal captain for the 2025-26 season but is blessed to see his squad buffed up by quality signings. The India international will be particularly chuffed about getting to play with someone like Hamid Ahadad, a player who can play on the same wavelength as him.

Mahesh is thriving under Oscar Bruzon’s system at East Bengal, which allows him to move into the key empty spaces in the final third and move around wherever he pleases.

Hamid will be keen on building a strong bond with Naorem, knowing how the winger’s creativity can hand him more goal-scoring chances. Mahesh created 35 chances in the Indian Super League (ISL) last season, but only had one assist. However, he can now expect his chances to be capitalized on better with the proactive presence of Hamid.
