The Blue Colts are the solitary team to not lose a single game in the tournament so far. After five matchweeks, India find themselves atop the points table with 10 points, whereas Senegal are placed second with nine points.
Bibiano’s boys kicked off the campaign with a 4-2 win over Laos after goals scored by Macdonnish Ngairangbam (7′), R Lalremruatfela (11′, 31′), and Soumojit Sarkar (33′).
The second game saw India win 2-1 against Cameroon after goals from Fareil Ngobo (1′ OG) and R Lalremruatfela (27′).
After two consecutive wins, India settled for a 3-3 draw against Grenada in a high-scoring thriller that ended in a shared point. India got the better of Bahrain 4-3 to get back on winning ways and retain their spot atop the points table.
For India to qualify in Tier A, they must win the game against Senegal. They still have their fate in their own hand. A win will confirm India’s participation in Tier A. Even a draw against Senegal will suffice given Cameroon do not win their final game.
Senegal U-15
Senegal U-15 are placed second in the Group K points table just behind the Blue Colts. The Babies Teranga Lions met a 3-0 defeat against Cameroon in the African derby after goals from Cameroon’s Ngobo, Massoda, and Ngome. But they went on to script a massive comeback after three consecutive wins over Laos, Bahrain and Grenada.
They went on to score 22 goals in the last three games, clocking an average of 7 goals per game. Senegal got the better of Bahrain 6-1 in Matchweek 2.
Senegal defeated Grenada 7-1 before getting the better of Laos 9-0 recently. Three back to back wins takes them to the second spot. Despite their superior goal difference, they are behind Cameroon in head to head.
The road to Tier A is not easy for Senegal. Apart from winning their game against India, they must hope that Cameroon drops points.
Team News
With each match lasting just 45 minutes and the tournament taking place over two days, both head coaches will be hoping to have fully fit squads available, with no injury concerns.
